'I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book. When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.'
- Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
Dear Patron,
It was the month of love. There was the usual hullabaloo about teddy bears, roses, promises and hugs. At the other end of the spectrum were the proud declaration and unwavering commitment to singledom, the self deprecating humour (afu ta sadhai eklai, ke ka valentine salentine) and the recurring emergence of a new celebration (re: Galentine’s Day). By the way, you can blame Geoffrey Chaucer for Valentine’s Day.
📚 For us bookworms, it is always the season of love.
What’s not to love - when there are a million books waiting to be read. Considering that we are in a very stable, consistent and ever evolving relationship with the greatest love of our lives, aka reading, our heart is always as full as our TBR list even though our pockets are always as empty as bags waiting to be filled when we are in a bookstore.
B❤️❤️KS!
Carry them with you, they are always there by your side.
Leave them behind, they will be waiting right where you left them.
They never run out of new stories to share, adventures to tag along on or territories to explore.
They offer you something new every time you come back. A never ending supply of gifts, that’s what books are!
They are generous and comforting, exciting and earth shattering, full of wisdom or full of nonsense.
They challenge us, lift us up and help us grow. They blunt our traumas, charge our emotions and constantly remind us of the beauty and frailty of life.
They become exactly what we need them to be - advisor, teacher, critic, guide, companion, friend, family.
Books transform the world - when you open one, suddenly a vacuum envelops you, you are now suspended in your personal space-time continuum. It’s like being cocooned in a warm hug for hours.
⭐ Reading is not simply Magic. Reading is Alchemy.
💘 Now, isn’t that the perfect romance?
‘The world was hers for the reading.’
- Betty Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
